The hue might not be for everyone, but we seriously rate her neat bun.

We love an updo. Classy, elegant and chic, nothing says 'occasion hair' like a proper updo. And it turns out, we're not the only ones to think so; Kate Hudson, Ashley Benson and Kerry Washington have all opted for something tied up this week to really make an entrance. What we've learnt (and of course, we were taking notes) is that the humble updo doesn't have to always spell refinement and er, bridal chic. In fact, there are plenty of twists you can put on it to make it a whole other thing altogether.

For example, the aforementioned Ms Washington and the return of the hair bow. Yes, you read that right: Lady GaGa's look du jour circa 2009 has managed to hit high fashion. Instead of peroxide-blonde and atop her head, Kerry worked a more loose, ladylike bow-chignon hybrid that made her look all kinds of classy and fun. We love. It's a very hard to look to wear, let alone make red carpet appropriate, so hats off.

Next, we're all about Kate Hudson's ponytail with an edge. Super sleek and shiny, her layers at the front frame her face in a flattering (and not early noughties feathering-craze throwback way) manner which makes her polished pony look even more chic. Two thumbs up.

Finally, Kate Beckinsale and her mini-quiff. A little punky, a little ladylike, this stylish 'do is miles away from staid and nupital-esque, and perfect for (dare we say) unwashed hair this party season. Not implying Kate's hair was unwashed. We're sure she has an army of expert lock-washers to make sure her tresses are squeaky clean 24/7.
