There's no denying that Dyson knows its way around an excellent hairdryer. Both the Dyson Supersonic r hair dryer and the Dyson Supersonic Nural hair dryer have amassed legions of loyal fans - myself included. In my experience, Dyson tools do all the hard work for me. Never before have I been able to achieve a salon-worthy blow-out from the comfort of my own bedroom. So, where versions of Dyson's products by other brands are concerned? It's fair to say I'm cynical. The in-depth research and rigorous testing just can't come close. Surely. But in the name of beauty journalism, I'm down to give them a whirl.
One product that's received countless reviews on Amazon is the CASAMAA Professional Ionic Hair Dryer, which is currently half price in the Amazon Spring Sale. First impressions? It certainly looks like a Dyson hair dryer in all it's pink and grey glory. But how does it truly fare? Scroll on for my full review.

Rachael Martin, beauty editor:
'It looks like a Dyson. But it doesn't feel like one. It's light, yes, but doesn't share the same, expensive finish. In short, you can absolutely tell one is considerably cheaper than the other. But I'm withholding judgement for now. It's only £29.99 compared to Dyson's £399.99. And the proof is in the pudding, after all.
I first rough dried my hair without the attachment. The airflow is impressively strong and maintains a constant temperature for even drying time. I then used the concentrator nozzle (one of three attachments) alongside a round, bristle brush to create volume at the root. I'm really impressed by the lack of frizz - Casamaa attribute this to the 'ionic conditioning technology' which works to smooth the cuticle. The ionic charge created by the hair dryer prevents water from creeping into the hair shaft, ultimately aiding a smooth, soft finish. It's important to note that it's unusual to find such a cheap hairdryer with such impressive technology
When it came to creating my curls, I found the nozzle wasn't quite as precise as I'd ideally like. That said, it was far from clunky and I was able to form smooth, soft curls that truly resembled those I've been able to create with the Dyson. After setting with my usual hefty hit of hairspray, I was thrilled to find they were long lasting- my hair style stayed put all day.'

Final thoughts
While it's not quite on par with a Dyson hair dryer, I was able to create something very similar. Think shine, volume and bouncy curls that lasted all day. For the price? Well, it would be rude not to. A reminder that Casamaa is £29.99 compared to Dyson's £399.99. And if you need further convincing? Check out the myriad of five star reviews from Amazon customers.
