If you’re anything like me, you’ll probably think you can’t be bothered to do a DIY clay mask because, well, where do you even get clay?

Luckily for you, I’ve got you covered. Most health stores will actually carry powdered clay, but you can also buy it online here for as cheap as £1.10.

Why clay? Because of its texture, clay is very easy to apply and is great for mixing. Each clay has different healing properties, so choose the clay best suited for your skin type.

Bentonite clay—the super absorbent, acne-fighting clay—is a a favourite for those concerned with impurities. For sensitive skin, white clay is gentle and softening. Green clay drinks up excess oils, so is good for when your skin feels like it’s producing enough grease for several fry-ups. I’m using grey clay, ideal for normal skin.

Want to make your own clay mask? Here are some visuals.

You’ll need:

Clay

Water

Bowl (non metallic)

Honey (for its antibacterial and moisturising properties)

Yogurt (for brightening and exfoliating)

Other things you could add into your mask: tea-tree oil (for acne prone skin), rosewater, avocados, bananas, the list (link: http://promisingbeauty.blogspot.ca/2015/01/diy-facemask-pic-n-mix-cheat-sheet.html) is never-ending!

First, pour some of the clay powder into your bowl.

Add a bit of water!

Stir until you get a mud-like consistency. Make sure not to use a metallic spoon when stirring as it messes with the clay.

Add honey.

Then yogurt.

Smother it all over your face, leave on for 20 minutes and presto! Rinse to reveal smoother, happier skin.
