To say we're obsessed with the hair and make-up looks in last seasons runaway hit Netflix series Bridgerton is a total and utter understatement. The minimal make-up looks and intricate up-dos had us at hello, and we were so enamoured of Daphne Bridgerton's micro-fringe that we dedicated a whole feature to it. No really, you can genuinely read about a day in the life of Daphne Bridgerton's fringe right here. The man in charge of these incredible hair and make-up looks? One Marc Pilcher, Bridgerton's hair and make-up designer, who just this week revealed the surprising inspiration behind the looks he thought up for Daphne Bridgerton's character played by Phoebe Dynevor (read Grazia's cover interview with Phoebe herself right here and see what she had to say abou the filming process).
Taking to Instagram Marc wrote: 'The stunning @phoebedynevor #daphnebridgerton , it was such a pleasure designing this look for our gorgeous Phoebe. Daphne needed to be youthful, simple and elegant and with the amazing talent of @lyndajpearcemua I achieved my goal. My designs were derived from images of @audrey.hepburn in the 1950s film War and Peace. This film although made in the 50s was also set in the Regency period. This look sorted Daphne to the ground.'
One look at a few stills from the epic movie adaptation of War and Peace made in 1956 makes clear how much Audrey Hepburn's look in costume as the character Natasha Nostova influenced Marc Pilcher and his team, from the ludicriously elegant micro-fringe to the single curl set to one side of Daphne Bridgerton's riding hat. Marc brought Audrey Hepburn's legendary costume drama look bang up to date for Bridgerton and we're head over heels.

The Everyday Look
Marc Pilcher, the hair and make-up designer in charge of the looks on Bridgerton, used Audrey Hepburn's look in the 1956 movie adaptation of War & Peace as inspiration for Daphne Bridgerton's look as worn by Phoebe Dynevor. The micro-fringe is perhaps the most obvious take here.
The Ball Look
Here, as per Audrey Hepburn's ball look in War & Peace, Daphne's micro-fringe is parted and curled to the side, the rest of her hair teased up in intricate plaits and curls.
The Riding Look
The influence behind Daphne's riding look is clear here. Even the right hand side curl on show is the same. Beautiful.
