Stop the presses - everyone's favourite booty-shaking, hair-swishing, hoop-earring-wearing pop diva has chopped her hair off. That's right, the one and only Jennifer Lopez has gone for a bob.
While we've seen a bevy of starlet plump for shorter 'dos of late, they've often tended to be of the nonchalant, insouciant kind rather than the bombastic, glamorous kind - but J.Lo's new style has put a stop to that.
There's no denying that her new style is pretty transformative - at first blush, you could easily mistake her for one of the cast of Mad Men rather than her usual bodacious self. And while we do love Jenny from the block, we have to concede that with this style, Jennifer looks elegant, sophisticated and ever so chic.
The cut aside, Jennifer's colour choice confirms another hot hair trend: bronde. One of our favourite shades (and portmanteaus) of 2015, bronde is the effortless fusing of both brunette and blonde low and highlights to create an beachy, lived-in feel. Neither fully blonde or brunette, it's a multidimensional hue that perfectly compliments a tan. Jennifer's not the only one working this shade - other early adopters include Gisele, Alessandra Ambrosio and Miranda Kerr, which is good company to be in.
As hair colourist supremo Christophe Robin told us, ‘This style is all about subtlety. Make sure your colourist takes the time to find the right tones – the correct ones should be only two, or at most, three shades lighter than your natural shade.’
If you prefer to DIY, try L’Oréal Paris’s new Préférence Glam Bronde Kit, £7.49, which uses a rather snazzy highlighting formula and pro-designed colouring brush to place the scattered, honeyed streaks just so. It's undoubtedly the shade of the summer, which means we could finally be saying a fond farewell to ombre. Will you try the trend?
