So far, 2017 has been pretty weird: New Zealand police hired a guinea pig officer, someone created emoji face masks, and now we've discovered that cannabis beauty products are a thing. Yes, you can now get high on skincare (well, not literally, but you can definitely use cannabis-infused skincare to achieve glowing, moisturised skin).
These legal products, which you can buy in shops including The Body Shop and Holland & Barrett, tend to be infused with an ingredient called hemp seed oil, which is derived from the cannabis plant. This sought after ingredient is said to contain up to 80% essential fatty acids (which is one of the highest percentages of any plant oil in the world!), and this is why is makes your skin look so great.
Normally, smoking either cigarettes or cannabis can have negative effects on your skin, and contribute to premature ageing and dryness. But applying cannabis-infused skincare directly to your face won't have quite the same effect. As hemp-infused products contain antioxidants, they can actually help to moisturise dry skin, as well as help with the appearance of wrinkles, so topical application is definitely the way forward.
