Candy Cane Eyeliner Is Now A Thing

The ever so creative beauty community have come up with a new trend just in time for Christmas: Candy Cane Eyeliner. Yep. Red and white striped eyeliner that makes you look like you’ve just strolled right out of Santa’s workshop. Part of me thinks this is ridiculous, bright red near the eye is sure to make you look like you’ve got conjunctivitis, right? But another part of me thinks OMG CHRISTMAS I WANT TO BE MORE CHRISTMASSY THIS IS PERFECT I LOVE CHRISTMAS. So to settle my two conflicting sides, I’ve done lots of research on how this could work…

In this tutorial Eyedolize, she uses a vertical stripe effect, which looks totally adorable. However, I can't help but think that with my small-ish eyes the lack of definition would make them dissapear completely.

So in this tutorial from Wholesale Halloween, they use a black under the 'candy cane' which I think helps make the look more wearable - and also it means I still have the definition I need around my eyes. I am also a huge fan of the red in the crease - nice touch! Obviously the glitter eyebrows are optional.

Once you look past the very very upbeat music just WOW. The definition! The Holly! The Glitz! EmanueleCastelli has somehow made something this cutesy trend look FIERCE and just look at that flick! This is definitely one for the pros i.e not me.

It's definitely got potential, I mean I wouldn't wear it to the office but I would to other christmas related shebang I might be attending this party season. Here are some products to help you create this look:

Barry M Kohl Pencil in White £2.99

Mac Chromaline Gel/Cream in Pure White £16

Sleek Eau La LA Eyeliner in Moulin Rouge £4.99

NYX Vivid Brights Eyeliner in Red £5.50
