It's tempting to treat the news that there's soon to be a Kale flavoured nail varnish on our shelves as today's WTF fashion and beauty news. (Which let's face it, we've had a lot of recently. Scented jeans, anyone?) But there could actually be a reason to buy into Nail Inc's Nailkale. Quite literally.

Since the green leafy vegetable got itself a PR woman (yes, really), it's been everywhere. Celebs are pictured clutching kale juices, commuters are seen tucking into those Pret crisps.... Kale is to 2014 what wheat grass was to the nineties.

And it makes sense. Because dietary speaking, the super green is full of iron and antioxidants, as well as Vitamin K which has been shown to help protect our body's from various forms of cancer. It's also anti-inflammatory and supports a healthy heart. In short, it's good. Very very good.

By contrast, nail varnish doesn't have the best reputation. Full of chemicals it can often leave your nails brittle and tough. Which is why Nails.inc Nailkale - the first of it's kind - might make sense.

Containing real kale, the £15 polish acts much in the same way as the edible stuff in that it enriches and fortifies. It's high levels of vitamins A, C and K work on dry, damaged, brittle and easily split nails to stimulate the production of vital keratin while also hydrating and feeding malnourished nails.

But there's more than just kale in this little green machine. Think of this polish as your morning green juice; as well as kale there's extracts of aloe vera, lemon, ginseng, pomegranate and grape to really do a number on your sorry looking nails.

The new NailKale range sees six nail polishes including a base coat, an illuminator and four colours. Wear them every day and you'll have healthier nails in just four weeks.
