Let's be honest, blue make-up is a pretty scary concept. It's a bit too easy to whack on some blue eyeshadow and end up looking like Pat Butcher's doppelganger, which is probably never the look you're going for. The thing is, the 60s and 70s is back, big time. Which means, whether you like it or not, blue make-up is too. So, with that in mind and in honour of #DebriefDoesDenim, we wanted to show you that hey, you can wear blue make-up and it *can *look bloody ace. Here's five blue beauty looks to try your hand at.

Blue Streak

Hair chalk is sticking around this season and what's even better is that it's dead easy to use. Apply it haphazardly on sections of beachy hair for a festival-worthy do. For the make-up, Lucy went for a dark blue cat-eye, using MAC's Chromagraphic Pencil in Ultra Marine, £14, and spiky blue lashes to give it a punky vibe.

Blue & Bronze

Think 'Brits Abroad' for this one. Sounds alarming but bare with me... The is all about being fun, bronzed and carefree. Line the lower lashes with a bright blue following the curve of your eye; Lucy reccomends using MAC's Chromagraphic Pencil in Hi-Def Cyan, £14because the pigment is unreal. Then go in with a shimmery bronzer on the cheeks and temples with a large brush like the EcoTools Bronzer Brush, £9.99. Note the noughties glittery gloss on the lips and lids too. This is one to recreate when you're on your summer hols for sure.

Two-Tone Nails

This one is by far the simplest way to go blue. Just pick two different tones of blue nail polish and paint one hand in each shade; we like Barry M's Gelly Nail Paint in Blue Grape and Light Blue, £3.99. Seriously simple, but somehow really chic. Once you're sick of blue, try doing different tones of a different colour.

Double Denim

Double (or triple) denim clothes is one thing, but the thought of double blue make-up? Pretty terryifying. Turns out done right, you can create a 60's look that Twiggy would be proud of. Take a 'bleached' blue cream shadow over the lid and up to the brow; MAC's Paint Pot in Clearwater, £15.50, then use a 'denim' blue eyeliner in the waterline all around the eye. Keep skin matte with softly flushed cheeks using something like Maybelline's Dream Touch Blush in Berry, £6.49. A blue top takes the super cute sixties feel up a notch if fancy going all out.

**High Contrast **

Combining blue and orange is not a subtle look but we're coining it as the perfect go-to summer statement this year. Imagine it: paired with denim shorts and a white shirt - totally dreamy. Lucy mixed this mascara herself using the MAC mixing medium lash and one of their pigments but you can use any royal blue mascara if you don't fancy going DIY. The lipstick should super bright like Maybelline's Color Sensational Vivids in Electric Orange, £6.99 because if you're going to do it, do it properly, right? If you fancy a matte finish, place a tissue over the lipstick and dust powder over it.
