Aeroplanes can play havoc with your skin. Which is why most people don't step off of a long-haul flight – or any flight for that matter – looking their A*, 100% best. But you know what will help? Indulging in a little skincare once you're onboard.

The main thing to keep in mind when it comes to flying is hydration, hydration and hydration because the air is so much dryer on aeroplanes than the air we're used to: it has around 20% humidty compared to the day-to-day ideal humidity of 40-50%.

So here's your aeroplane essentials, all, very handily, below 100ml so you can take these onto your flight with zero problems.

1. Masque Bar Green Tea Sheet Mask, £9.99 for three, Boots.com

First off: a face mask. Sheet masks are great because there's zero mess (and we're into anything that avoids going into the cramped toilets with the scary flush) and they lock in the moisture. Put it on, ignore the stares and sit back as your skin feels soothed and hydrated. There's always serum left in the bottom of the pouch so don't waste it: massage that into your skin as well.

2. Liz Earle Instant Boost Skin Tonic Spritzer, £6 for 30ml, Boots.com

Time for toner. This contains aloe vera, vitamin E, cucumber and chamomile for a soothing hit of hydration, just spray it on and pat it into the skin. Go wild and apply this throughout the flight as often as you fancy, even once you've applied the rest of the products – more is more.

3. Yes to Blueberries Intensive Skin Repair Serum, £15.99 for 30ml, Boots.com

Choose a serum which contains antioxdiants like this one which has blueberries. Antioxidants help to fight free-radicals (which we can blame for breaking down collagen in the skin and – sorry – wrinkles) and which you want to protect your skin from as much as possible.

4. La Roche Posay Hydreane BB Creme, £15 for 40ml, Boots.com

SPF on a flight? Yep. Aeroplane windows don't block UVA rays which, unlike UVB rays, can penetrate the thickest layer of the skin, damaging it. This offers both UVA and UVB protection, as well as moisturising skin with it's sensitive formula and bonus coverage. It's basically a three-in-one product which makes it ideal for travelling.

5. Clinique Pep-Start Eyecream, £22 for 15ml, Boots.com

The cooling applicator will help get rid of the dreaded puffy eyes that are obligatory on flights and leave you looking a bit more awake.

6. No7 Lovely Lips Lip Balm in Coral Blossom, £9, Boots.com

This will keep lips moisturised and give a wash of colour that'll perk you up a bit when you finally land.

7. Soap & Glory Mini Hand Food, £2.50 for 50ml, Boots.com

Sort out your dry hands by applying this regularly throughout the flight. It smells amazing too.
