Red lippy is the pièce de résistance of the lipstick world: the gin in the soda water, the elusive strawberry Quality Street, the Obama in a world of Trumps. Whether you want to add a bit of drama to your daytime look, or its Friday night and you’re going OUT OUT, red lipstick is the one.
Our French neighbours are the absolute masters of red lipstick, so we’ve teamed up with Bourjois to bring you a few cheeky tips on how to apply the ultimate red lip. If you want to look more hot stuff than hot mess, look no further…
Step One: Choose Your Weapon
There are so many shades of red, it’s actually crazy. From classic rouge, to poppy pout and all the pinky- and browny-reds in between, boyyyy are there choices to be made. Thankfully, Bourjois have a huge range of matte and semi-matte shades, which you can browse here. Buy some, buy all, do what you will.
Step Two: Outline Your Lips
Self-explanatory, really. Grab the lippy and draw an outline on your lips.
Step Three: Fill Them In
Colour in, kind of like a real life version of the adult colouring books we are all loving at the moment.
Step Four: Blot
Fold a tissue in half and close your lips against it, to remove the excess colour.
Step Five: Reapply
Reapply another coat and, ooo la la, you’re good to go!
