How hard is it, exactly, to smell good? I’m not talking pleasant. Oh, no. I’m talking a get-stopped-in-the-street kind of good. Despite my (admittedly) out of control scent collection, I've found it’s actually pretty tricky to find one that truly reels in the compliments - even those £300 plus fragrances that claim to be the best-of the-best. So, imagine my delight (and surprise) when I found out that all it took was a £35 perfume. This one? A guaranteed head turner.

Enter The White Company’s Santa Rosa Luxury Eau de Toilette, £35. The packaging is chic, yes, but totally unassuming. Who knew a relatively plain, monochrome bottle could pack such an olfactory punch? Expect an uplifting, floral scent that will boost your mood throughout the colder months - I’ve seen the proof first hand. Rich tuberose, velvet orris and sweet jasmine muddle to reveal a striking, warming scent that lasts from sunrise to cocktail hour. Seriously, this one lasts. I’ll mist a generous amount across my pulse points and find I still smell joyous even after a particularly sweaty commute. The alcohol-free formula means I can spritz my hands too and run a small amount through my hair without drying it out - every time a breeze hits the scent is dispersed into the air allowing me another delicious whiff of the stuff.

The White Company say, 'Early evening in California, windows thrown open to the warm air. Jasmine and tuberose, night blooming, climb trees and tumble over garden gates, the scent drifting on the breeze. In Santa Rosa, rich florals are rounded out by the softness of orris and the gentle musk of cashmere woods.'

Pros

  • Long-lasting
  • Unique smell

Cons

  • It's an EDT
