There is little Charlotte Tilbury can't do. Her burgundy-laden beauty counters and store fronts are enough to spark joy wherever you are in the world, her make-up launches are guaranteed bestsellers and her skincare products are backed by the experts. It seems whatever the beauty mogul lays a hand to instantly turns to (rose) gold. And now, Tilbury has her sights set on the fragrance world and is gearing up to welcome not one but six new scents to the Charlotte Tilbury empire.

If you're a brand stan, you'll know this isn't Charlotte Tilbury's first fragrance rodeo. In 2016, Tilbury launched Scent Of A Dream, a limited-edition scent that was quick to fly off shelves. If Tilbury's track record is anything to go by, this new collection will quickly follow suit. For one, it's been 40 years in the making and is backed by neuroscience, and by the looks of things the collection is set to lead the new frontier for modern fragrances.

What is Charlotte Tilbury's new Fragrance Collection of Emotions?

We know that scents have the power to transport us. Acting as a gateway to memories and emotions, it's a beauty category that is known to be an instant mood-booster and Charlotte Tilbury's new collection taps into exactly that. Working with the International Flavors & Fragrance (IFF) perfumery house and its scent specialists, the collection was developed with the IFF's proprietary algorithm, the IFF Scentcube, which has identified a range of emotions that can be targeted directly through scent.

Dr Céline Manetta, PHD, Senior Consumer Science Manager of IFF, explains the method behind the ground-breaking perfume tech: 'We measure the emotional power of ingredients by understanding the specific effect they have on us and we identify which emotions they enhance. We then use Artificial Intelligence with an IFF proprietary tool called the IFF Scentcube that analyses all this data and gives perfumers innovative ingredient combinations to enhance specific emotions. It creates a specific palette of ingredients so they can compose with it.'

Enlisting the IFF Scentcube's five billion-strong data points and the help of the best noses in the business, including Anne Flipo, Juliette Karagueuzoglou and Dominique Ropion – who can lay their name to some of the world's most famous perfumes (CC: Paco Rabanne's Lady Million, Mugler's Alien and YSL Libre) – Tilbury was able to develop a stellar line up of six emotion boosting scents.

Our honest review of Charlotte Tilbury's Fragrance Collection of Emotions:

Love Frequency, Magic Energy, Calm Bliss, More Sex, Cosmic Power, and Joyphoria are powered by emotion-boosting molecules, ergo notes and accords purposely combined to trigger specific emotions Tilbury considers to be universally significant - love, energy, serenity, seduction, empowerment, and happiness. The fragrance wardrobe is intended to put the 'superpower' back in the hands of its wearer, allowing them to elicit any emotion they want at any given moment - hence the collection's tagline 'So, how do you want to feel today?'

Charlotte Tilbury The Fragrance Collection Of Emotions 10ml

Love Frequency is a romantic and warm floral wood bursting with bright pink pepper and cosy musk; Magic Energy is an uplifting citrusy wood boasting bergamot, cypress oil and cashmere wood; Calm Bliss takes the form of a relaxing aquatic floral with sweet neroli oil, lavender oil and tonka bean; More Sex features a seductive musky leather blend of black pepper oil, sandalwood and amber wood; Cosmic Power is an ambery and spicy cocktail of confidence-exuding frankincense, vanilla and musk; while Joyphoria is a sunny warm floral loaded with coconut oil, jasmine and tuberose.

So do they work? In a word, yes. We're not saying these scents would automatically flick the switch on your feelings, but they certainly will help you on your way. Each of the six fragrances house exactly what you would expect emotions like energy and empowerment to smell like, and therefore put you into the mindset of that particular feeling. And if the scent isn't enough to sway you (it will) the bottles certainly will. Inspired by 18th Century alchemy potion and perfume bottles, ancient Egypt, crystals and colour theory, the carefully crafted glass vessels are enough to lift your spirits alone.

When does Charlotte Tilbury's fragrance go on sale?

The new perfume collection was so hotly anticipated, there was an initial waitlist to allow eager shoppers the chance to be the first in line. The collection since launched on 30th April exclusively on the Charlotte Tilbury app, and was made available nationwide and globally on 2nd May. You'll be able to buy it from the Charlotte Tilbury website, as well as all Charlotte Tilbury stockists.

How much does Charlotte Tilbury perfume cost?

The fragrances are £130 each for 100ml. Presumably, the price reflects the fact that, to develop these scents, Charlotte Tilbury 'harnessed the expertise of world-renowned perfumers – some of the best noses in the world – neuroscience, cutting-edge technology, AI and 40 years of research.'

Charlotte Tilbury's newest offering has been 40 years in the making and we can see why. Created with AI technology and the best noses in the business, the brand's new collection of six perfumes is geared towards lifting your mood and emotions in just a few quick spritzes.
