Miley Cyrus ended her gig as the host of the MTV VMAs, by announcing that she was doing a Beyonce and dropping a surprise album. But she went one step further, releasing the whole thing for free.
The 23 singles on 'Miley Cyrus & Her Dead Petz' are being hosted for free on MileyCyrus.com. Miley closed the VMAs by playing 'Dooo It!' - the opening song in her new album - with queens from RuPauls Drag Race.
Miley said in an interview with The New York Times that her album cost $50,000 to make, compared to 'Bangerz' which cost a "couple million." She said: “This music was not meant to be a rebellion. It was meant to be a gift.”
In the interview, Miley also revealed that she has no intention of being in Taylor Swift's squad of “musicians, actresses, models, entrepreneurs." She said: “I’m not trying to be in the squad. None of my friends are famous and not because of any other reason than I just like real people who are living real lives, because I’m inspired by them.”
She said of her reinventions: “It’s really scary. If one of my friends doesn’t see me for two or three weeks, you have to re-get to know me in a way. My soul will still be the same, but everything around me can be different, and I won’t dress the same and maybe different kinds of people will be around.”
