There's good news and bad news for Netflix fans. Let's start with the good news: bosses of the streaming service plan to up the amount of original shows, so we'll have access to more binge-watching gold like Orange Is The New Black and Kimmy Schmidt waves goodbye to social life. But now for the not-so-great news: this would mean price increases for subscribers.
Luckily, it's a long-term plan so we won't see an increase in price for the next three months, but prices will gradually be increased over the next ten years.
In an interview with investors, company CEO Reed Hastings explained: “We want to take it very slow. Over the next decade I think we’ll be able to add more content and have more value and then price that appropriately.”
There's also potential plans to tighten up security on the app to minimise shared passwords. At the moment you can have four profiles sharing one username, but this could change to stop multiple people from streaming from the same account.
No word as yet what the next price increase will come into play, but chances are it'll be worth to have more originals like OITNB at our beck and call.
