This morning we have some very exciting news from the palace as The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge have welcomed their second child at 8.34am. After months of speculation, we now know that the royal couple have delivered a baby princess.

Kensington Palace announced the news on Twitter, writing: 'Her Royal Highness The Duchess of Cambridge was safely delivered of a daughter at 8.34am. The baby weighs 8lbs 3oz. The Duke of Cambridge was present for the birth. The Queen, The Duke of Edinburgh, The Prince of Wales & The Duchess of Cornwall, Prince Harry & members of both families have been informed. Her Royal Highness and her child are both doing well.'

The Lindo Wing is busy with media and royal enthusiasts. Shortly after the news an (unofficial) Town Crier read the announcement on the steps of the Lindo Wing.
