There are many reasons we love Karlie Kloss – she bakes cookies, appropriately named Karlie’s Kookies, from which the proceeds help starving children around the world. In February, she hosted a charity ball with fellow model Natalia Vodianova to raise money for The Naked Heart Foundation. Oh, and she’s one of the most famous current supermodels in the world. No biggie.

Now the 22 year-old has decided to dabble in technology, and after taking a two week coding course at the Flatiron School in New York, Karlie wants to encourage other young girls to show interest in the sector.

Working with Flatiron, Karlie is funding 20 ‘Kode With Karlie’ scholarships for high school girls around the country who are enthusiastic about coding – and all she’s asking for is a 60-second video explaining why they want to learn the skill. What a gal!

The chosen few will acquire free tuition to Flatiron School’s Introduction to Software Engineering course during the summer of 2015(the same one Karlie

chose), some attending the New York City campus while others around the school’s other locations.

Karlie is well aware of the fact that the world of coding is incredibly male-dominated, clearly wanting to express her passion for women working in mobile and web development. In a video for the Flatiron School, she said, "I think it's crucial that young women learn to code as early as possible to ensure that we, as women, have a voice and a stake in what the world looks like."

Baking for charity, raising money and now funding scholarships? All this just proves that Karlie Kloss is so much more than just a pretty face.
