It may be fashion month, but here at Grazia HQ, we're also busy celebrating our 10th birthday. To honour the occasion, we're showing a celebratory exhibition at the Getty Images Gallery - it's open to the public so do pop in - and with it, hosting a series of talks (check out all the info on the forthcoming talks here) with the industry's biggest movers and shakers.
These days, we're all too busy to spend hours doing our makeup, so we need tips and products that multi-task and can go the distance. We called upon one of ours - and indeed most of the industry's - favourite makeup artists, Wendy Rowe, to join us for a breakfast talk and give our makeup bags a time-saving makeover.
If you weren't there to catch it, don't fret! We've rounded up her insider tips below...
1. It All Starts With Skincare
"If you look after your skin everything becomes easier," said Wendy Rowe. "Your skin is like a canvas for your face; if you take care of your skin you can be much lighter with the products." She noted the brand Decleor as being one of her skincare favourites for all skin types.*
2. You Don't Have To Wear Foundation
*Wendy suggests using Burberry Fresh Glow Golden Radiance - a product she developed with Burberry - either on its own as a base, or mixed with foundation. It works on every skintone, all over the body, and men can use it too" Talk about a hardworking product! "It's like a little kiss on a sun terrace.", Wendy said.
3. Don't Put Foundation On Your Eyelids
"It's old fashioned," said Wendy on the age old habit of putting foundation or concealer on eyelids. "Your eyelids are very fine and can cake very easily, meaning it's very easy for it all to start looking very heavy and and old lady-like,' she adds. And if you reaaally must? Only put a little.
4. You Can Use Concealer As A Highlighter
In a world obsessed with contouring a la Kim K, Wendy shared a surefire way to achieve the look whilst staying natural. "You can use concealer as a highlighter - use one that's slightly lighter and one that's your skin tone," she recommends. "You can create contours with it before putting on your foundation, then it will give you highlights without having to wear too much makeup."
