If you want to up your Insta followers, try whacking on some pictures of Justin Bieber in his pants.
That tactic certainly seems to have worked for Calvin Klein. According to WWD, the brand has added 3.6 million followers to its combined social channels since unveiling Biebs as the face and body of its spring underwear campaign two weeks ago. Sock or no sock, that's some impressive stats.
Just 48 hours after Justin was debuted as CK's latest face/ bod, the hashtag #mycalvins had generated 1.6 million Twitter mentions. To put than in perspective, that's five times the number of mentions that Kim Kardashian’s naked Paper Magazine’s cover shoot got. So it looks like Kim didn't so much as #BreakTheInternet as #InjureItABit before Biebs finished it off.
As well as attracting controversy as a result of allegations that the image had been photoshopped, Justin's campaign images were spoofed on SNL:
