The magnificent Victorian ballroom will provide the back drop to the black tie Scottish Banquet and awards ceremony and play host to Scotland’s finest designers, textile manufacturers, supermodels and fashion players. 'It’s a bit of fun, saluting our nations style icons at what is otherwise a very serious event to honour our nations biggest industry players,' Tessa Hartmann, founder and producer of the event, said of the award.

09 July 2014: The Nominees Have Been Revealed
The Scottish Fashion Awards have announced today an impressive list of nominees and honourees for the 9th annual fashion extravaganza, which will take place in London on 1st September 2014. The event will be co-hosted by The Secretary of State for Scotland Alistair Carmichael MP as well as awards founder Dr Tessa Hartmann and, most excitingly, Grazia's very own editor-in-chief, Jane Bruton, is among the judges.
The swanky awards do will be hosted by the gwageous Laura Whitmore and will be followed by a glam Scottish banquet - bring on the haggis! Supermodels, industry insiders and major fashion players from around the world will arrive to celebrate the best of Scottish fashion and design talent.
So who are the nominees? Well, big-hitters including Jonathan Saunders, Christopher Kane and Holly Fulton are up for awards as well as textile leaders like Dhu, Brora and Queene & Belle. There are a host of young creatives shaping Scotland’s fashionable future too - we're talking Deetz, Hayley Scanlan and Rachel McMillan. The ‘International Designer of the Year’ pays tribute to the best use of a Scottish fabric or Scottish inspired/influenced collection, with Simone Rocha, Marc By Marc Jacobs, Mulberry, Maison Martin Margiela and Vivienne Westwood being nominated.
For the first time, the event has acknowledged ‘Luxury Retailers’ who are operating in the Scottish market place including Tommy Hilfiger, Burberry, Harvey Nichols, Louis Vuitton and Emporio Armani. But surely one of the most hotly contested categories is Scottish Model of the Year 2014 and with Jean Campbell, Paul Carrigan, Christopher Millington, Mary Charteris, Terri McGlone and Helena McKelvie all up for the gong, the tension is ON.

'These awards are now recognised around the world as the benchmark of success within the global fashion community and are without a doubt the most high profile showcase of Scottish fashion, design and textile talent in the country,' said Secretary of State for Scotland, Alistair Carmichael. 'They are respected around the world and judged by a panel of renowned and esteemed international industry figures and they provide an invaluable platform for emerging Scottish talent, textile manufacturers, and fashion's future leaders.'
The finalists will be judged by an exclusive panel consisting of insiders from the world’s leading fashion houses, the most renowned publications (including yours truly) and leading figures in style with winners announced at the glittering awards ceremony at 8 Northumberland.
